Analysis of the household/family types of children aged 12 to 17 years in Blacktown City Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a lower proportion of children aged 12 to 17 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 73.4% of children aged 12 to 17 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 20.6% were in one-parent families, compared with 75.5% and 19.5% respectively for Greater Sydney.
There was a similar proportion of children aged 12 to 17 years in lone person households and a similar proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of children aged 12 to 17 years in lone person households was 0.3% compared to 0.3% in Greater Sydney while the proportion of couples without children was 0.5% compared to 0.6% in Greater Sydney.
