Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 55 to 64 years in Blacktown City Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 44.4% of people aged 55 to 64 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 12.6% were in one-parent families, compared with 39.9% and 10.9% respectively for Greater Sydney.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households was 10.3% compared to 13.4% in Greater Sydney while the proportion of couples without children was 25.3% compared to 28.8% in Greater Sydney.
