In 2021, the largest age group in Ward 2 was 35 to 39 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 405 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Ward 2 in 2021 compared to WSROC Region shows that there was a similar proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a similar proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 19.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.8% and 14.1% respectively for WSROC Region.

The major difference between the female age structure of Ward 2 and WSROC Region is:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 40 to 44 (7.7% compared to 6.9%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Ward 2's female population increased by 1,077 people (3.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.64% per year over the period.
