Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of Ward 1 in 2021 compared to WSROC Region shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 24.5% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 8.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.8% and 14.1% respectively for WSROC Region.
The major differences between the female age structure of Ward 1 and WSROC Region were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 35 to 39 (11.5% compared to 8.2%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 40 to 44 (9.2% compared to 6.9%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 5 to 9 (8.9% compared to 6.9%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 60 to 64 (3.6% compared to 5.3%)
Emerging groups
From 2001 to 2021, Ward 1's female population increased by 32,617 people (205.9%). This represents an average annual population change of 5.75% per year over the period.
The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+4,223 females)
- 40 to 44 (+3,225 females)
- 30 to 34 (+2,915 females)
- 5 to 9 (+2,893 females)
