Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types in Ward 5 in 2021 compared to WSROC Region shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 40.9% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 16.9% were one-parent families, compared with 39.2% and 12.6% respectively for WSROC Region.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 16.0% compared to 18.5% in WSROC Region while the proportion of couples without children was 16.0% compared to 20.2% in WSROC Region.

The number of households in Ward 5 increased by 6,445 between 2016 and 2021.
