Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ward 3 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,575 females or 25.8%)
  • Retail Trade (1,581 females or 11.4%)
  • Education and Training (1,477 females or 10.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,633 females in total or 47.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, WSROC Region employed 22.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Retail Trade; and 12.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ward 3 and WSROC Region were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (25.8% compared to 22.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (10.7% compared to 12.2%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Ward 3 increased by 975 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Ward 3 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+470 females)
  • Education and Training (+198 females)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (-161 females)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+122 females)
