Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ward 5 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (3,777 females or 25.1%)
- Retail Trade (1,894 females or 12.6%)
- Education and Training (1,388 females or 9.2%)
In combination, these three industries employed 7,059 females in total or 46.9% of the total employed female resident population.
In comparison, WSROC Region employed 22.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Retail Trade; and 12.2% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ward 5 and WSROC Region were:
- A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (25.1% compared to 22.8%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.3% compared to 3.3%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (12.6% compared to 10.7%)
