Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Shalvey in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (93 females or 19.5%)
  • Retail Trade (78 females or 16.4%)
  • Education and Training (53 females or 11.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 224 females in total or 47.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Whalan employed 19.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 16.5% in Retail Trade; and 7.3% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Shalvey and Whalan were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (11.1% compared to 7.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in wholesale trade (4.4% compared to 2.9%)
