Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ward 2 in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,075 females or 21.6%)
  • Retail Trade (1,666 females or 11.7%)
  • Education and Training (1,634 females or 11.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,375 females in total or 44.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Ward 4 employed 24.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.6% in Retail Trade; and 8.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ward 2 and Ward 4 were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (11.5% compared to 8.0%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.8% compared to 4.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (21.6% compared to 24.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in transport, postal and warehousing (2.3% compared to 4.3%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Ward 2 increased by 307 between 2011 and 2016.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2011 and 2016 in Ward 2 were for those employed in:

  • Manufacturing (-338 females)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+301 females)
  • Education and Training (+222 females)
  • Wholesale trade (-209 females)
