Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Ward 5 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,344 males or 13.8%)
  • Construction (1,992 males or 11.7%)
  • Manufacturing (1,849 males or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,185 males in total or 36.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Blacktown City employed 11.8% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; 11.1% in Construction; and 9.7% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Ward 5 and Blacktown City were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (13.8% compared to 11.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (10.9% compared to 9.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.5% compared to 8.3%)

  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+507 males)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (+480 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+426 males)
