Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership of Tamil speakers in Blacktown City Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that 97.5% were in households that owned at least one car, while 1.7% did not, compared with 92.0% and 6.9% respectively in Greater Sydney.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion owned just one car; a larger proportion owned two cars; and a larger proportion that owned three cars or more.
Overall, 36.2% of Tamil speakers were in households that owned one car; 45.5% owned two cars; and 15.8% owned three cars or more, compared with 40.8%, 37.5% and 13.8% respectively for Greater Sydney.
