Ward 3's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Ward 3's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ward 3 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (3,467 females or 24.9%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (3,140 females or 22.5%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (2,222 females or 15.9%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 8,829 females in total or 63.3% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, WSROC Region employed 27.1% in Professionals; 22.6% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 15.2% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ward 3 and WSROC Region were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Labourers (8.4% compared to 6.9%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (4.5% compared to 3.2%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Professionals (24.9% compared to 27.1%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Managers (7.6% compared to 9.3%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed females in Ward 3 increased by 607 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Ward 3 were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+517 females)
- Sales Workers (-275 females)
- Machinery Operators And Drivers (+237 females)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (-200 females)
