Ancestry
The three largest ancestries in Raby in 2016 were English, Australian and Irish.
Ancestry defines the cultural association and ethnic background of an individual going back three generations. Ancestry is a good measure of the total size of cultural groups in Raby regardless of where they were born or what language they speak.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Raby in 2016 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (1,925 people or 32.3%)
- Australian (1,907 people or 32.0%)
- Irish (621 people or 10.4%)
- Scottish (437 people or 7.3%)
- Italian (212 people or 3.6%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 5,102 responses in total, or 85.73% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Raby and Woodbine were:
