Analysis of the household/family types of non-English speakers in the Inner West Council in 2021 compared to the total population in the Inner West Council shows that there was a higher proportion of non-English speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 42.7% of non-English speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 12.3% were one-parent families, compared with 41.2% and 9.1% respectively for the total population in the Inner West Council.
There were a lower proportion of non-English speakers in lone person households and a similar proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of non-English speakers in lone person households was 11.7% compared to 13.4% in the total population in the Inner West Council while the proportion in couples without children was 23.9% compared to 23.7% in the total population in the Inner West Council.
