Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 55 to 64 years in the City of Ipswich in 2021 compared to South East Queensland, shows that there was a lower proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 26.9% of people aged 55 to 64 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 11.8% were in one-parent families, compared with 27.8% and 9.8% respectively for South East Queensland.
There was a higher proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households was 15.4% compared to 14.7% in South East Queensland while the proportion of couples without children was 37.3% compared to 39.5% in South East Queensland.
