Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of children aged 5 to 11 years in the City of Ipswich in 2021 compared to South East Queensland, shows that there was a lower proportion of children aged 5 to 11 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 68.8% of children aged 5 to 11 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 25.5% were in one-parent families, compared with 75.7% and 19.4% respectively for South East Queensland.
There was a similar proportion of children aged 5 to 11 years in lone person households and a similar proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of children aged 5 to 11 years in lone person households was 0.3% compared to 0.3% in South East Queensland while the proportion of couples without children was 0.3% compared to 0.4% in South East Queensland.
