Five year age groups

In 2021, the largest age group in Division 01 was 5 to 9 year olds. The group that changed the most since 1991 was 5 to 9 year olds, increasing by 3,344 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 01 in 2021 compared to the City of Ipswich shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 26.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 9.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 23.5% and 11.4% respectively for the City of Ipswich.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 01 and the City of Ipswich were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (8.8% compared to 7.6%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (8.6% compared to 7.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (9.1% compared to 8.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (8.8% compared to 8.0%)

Emerging groups

From 1991 to 2021, Division 01's population increased by 38,081 people (204.8%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.78% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 1991 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 5 to 9 (+3,344 persons)
  • 30 to 34 (+3,172 persons)
  • 0 to 4 (+3,169 persons)
  • 25 to 29 (+3,116 persons)
