Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Division 02 in 2021 compared to the City of Ipswich shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 26.6% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 7.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 24.5% and 10.7% respectively for the City of Ipswich.
The major differences between the male age structure of Division 02 and the City of Ipswich were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 40 to 44 (7.9% compared to 6.6%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (9.0% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (2.7% compared to 3.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 60 to 64 (3.7% compared to 4.6%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, Division 02's male population increased by 4,914 people (17.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 3.31% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+744 males)
- 10 to 14 (+661 males)
- 40 to 44 (+539 males)
- 5 to 9 (+481 males)
