Five year age groups

In 2021, the largest age group in Division 03 was 10 to 14 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 10 to 14 year olds, increasing by 479 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Division 03 in 2021 compared to the City of Ipswich shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 22.2% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 24.5% and 10.7% respectively for the City of Ipswich.

The major differences between the male age structure of Division 03 and the City of Ipswich were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 55 to 59 (6.2% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 60 to 64 (5.3% compared to 4.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (7.5% compared to 8.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 0 to 4 (7.0% compared to 7.9%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 03's male population increased by 3,524 people (14.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 2.71% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 10 to 14 (+479 males)
  • 35 to 39 (+412 males)
  • 55 to 59 (+314 males)
  • 25 to 29 (+312 males)
