Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 45 to 54 years in the MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 90.0% of people aged 45 to 54 years spoke English only, and 3.6% spoke a non-English language, compared with 87.3% and 6.6% respectively for Regional NSW.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 45 to 54 years in the MidCoast Council area was Thai, with 0.3% of the population, or 38 people speaking this language at home.

There were no major differences between MidCoast Council area and Regional NSW in 2021.
