Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of Taree and surrounds in 2021 compared to MidCoast Council area shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.7% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 28.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 14.0% and 33.4% respectively for MidCoast Council area.
The major differences between the female age structure of Taree and surrounds and MidCoast Council area were:

The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

- 35 to 39 (+126 females)
- 80 to 84 (+124 females)
- 30 to 34 (+111 females)
