Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to Western Rural shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 17.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.5% were one-parent families, compared with 19.0% and 8.3% respectively for Western Rural.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 28.7% compared to 22.5% in Western Rural while the proportion of couples without children was 32.9% compared to 36.1% in Western Rural.
