Analysis of the household/family types in Southern Rural in 2021 compared to Gloucester and surrounds shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 21.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 9.3% were one-parent families, compared with 17.4% and 9.5% respectively for Gloucester and surrounds.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 24.3% compared to 28.1% in Gloucester and surrounds while the proportion of couples without children was 32.7% compared to 34.0% in Gloucester and surrounds.
