There were more male technicians and trades workers in Taree in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Taree in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (575 males or 21.0%)
  • Labourers (556 males or 20.3%)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (315 males or 11.5%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,446 males in total or 52.9% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, MidCoast Council area employed 24.3% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 16.5% in Labourers; and 11.6% in Machinery Operators And Drivers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Taree and MidCoast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (20.3% compared to 16.5%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Sales Workers (9.1% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (11.0% compared to 15.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (21.0% compared to 24.3%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Taree increased by 188 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in Taree were for those employed as:

  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+92 males)
  • Labourers (+61 males)
