Dominant groups
Analysis of the female service age groups of the MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 16.9% of the female population was aged between 0 and 17, and 42.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 20.5% and 30.0% respectively for Regional NSW.
The major differences between the female age structure of the MidCoast Council area and Regional NSW were:
- A larger percentage of 'Seniors' (19.7% compared to 13.2%)
- A larger percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (18.0% compared to 13.4%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (8.1% compared to 11.6%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (14.3% compared to 17.7%)
