In Taree 1,866 females (26.6% of females aged 15+) provided unpaid care to children in 2016. Of these, 655 females were caring for children other than their own.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the unpaid child care provided by the female population in Taree in 2016 compared to Tinonee - Taree South shows that there was a similar proportion of females who provided unpaid child care either to their own or to other children. Overall, 26.6% of the female population provided unpaid child care, compared with 27.0% for Tinonee - Taree South.
The major differences between the share of the female population providing unpaid child care in Taree and Tinonee - Taree South were:
- A larger percentage who provided unpaid childcare for own child/ren (17.2% compared to 15.3%)
- A larger percentage who did not provide care for children (63.5% compared to 62.1%)
- A smaller percentage who provided unpaid childcare for other child/ren (8.6% compared to 11.0%)
