LEARN MORE ABOUT .idHousing Tenure data provides an insight into the socio-economic status of the First Nations community and what housing role the area plays in the community. For example, in some areas, the First Nations community is reliant on public housing. In other areas, most dwellings are owned by an Aboriginal Community housing provider, while other areas are mortgage dominated, providing home-ownership opportunities for the population. This can have an impact on the type of council services required by the population.
Housing tenure data should be viewed in conjunction with Employment Status, and Household Type, information to build the demographic story of the area.
Please note: The 2021 Census made a minor change to the treatment of dwellings occupied rent free, which are now included in "Other" while in previous Censuses they were in "Rented". This is expected to account for only about 1-2% of the population in most cases and make a negligible difference when comparing over time.
'Is this dwelling (owned outright, owned with a mortgage etc.)', and 'If this dwelling is being rented, who is it rented from?'
