Dominant groups
Analysis of the number of bedrooms in dwellings for children aged 12 to 17 years in the Northern Beaches Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a similar proportion of children aged 12 to 17 years in dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and a higher proportion of dwellings with 4 or more bedrooms.
Overall, 7.4% of children aged 12 to 17 years were in dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and 66.9% in 4 or more bedroom dwellings, compared with 7.9% and 59.6% for Greater Sydney respectively.
The major differences between the number of bedrooms per dwelling children aged 12 to 17 years in the Northern Beaches Council and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people in 5 bedrooms or more (27.2% compared to 21.1%)
- A larger percentage of people in 4 bedrooms (39.7% compared to 38.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people in 3 bedrooms (23.4% compared to 28.3%)
