Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Northern Beaches Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (10,908 males or 15.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (10,571 males or 15.2%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (5,792 males or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 27,271 males in total or 39.2% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 13.1% in Construction; 11.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 7.1% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Northern Beaches Council area and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (15.2% compared to 11.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (15.7% compared to 13.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.0% compared to 7.3%)
