Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Northern Beaches Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (19,487 people or 14.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (16,022 people or 11.8%)
  • Construction (12,896 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 48,405 people in total or 35.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 10.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.2% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Northern Beaches Council area and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.3% compared to 10.9%)
