Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Freshwater in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (458 males or 17.3%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (431 males or 16.3%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (259 males or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,148 males in total or 43.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Northern Beaches Council area employed 15.7% in Construction; 15.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Freshwater and Northern Beaches Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (17.3% compared to 15.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (9.8% compared to 8.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (5.4% compared to 7.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (3.7% compared to 4.9%)
