The number of motor vehicles among the non-English speaking population may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as the Age Structure of that population, ability to drive and availability of other transport options (eg. public transport) in the area of residence.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the car ownership of Chinese languages speakers in the Northern Beaches Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that 94.9% were in households that owned at least one car, while 4.3% did not, compared with 88.3% and 10.6% respectively in Greater Sydney.
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion owned just one car; a larger proportion owned two cars; and a larger proportion that owned three cars or more.
Overall, 31.6% of Chinese languages speakers were in households that owned one car; 42.7% owned two cars; and 20.7% owned three cars or more, compared with 38.3%, 35.8% and 14.2% respectively for Greater Sydney.
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the household car ownership for Chinese languages speakers in the Northern Beaches Council between 2016 and 2021 were:
