Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Portuguese speaking resident population in Northern Beaches Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (486 people or 22.1%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (345 people or 15.7%)
- Managers (326 people or 14.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,157 people in total or 52.6% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 23.5% in Professionals; 11.2% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 13.6% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the Portuguese speaking population of Northern Beaches Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (15.7% compared to 11.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Labourers (10.2% compared to 13.6%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (9.6% compared to 11.0%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (22.1% compared to 23.5%)

The number of employed Portuguese speakers in Northern Beaches Council area increased by 1,117 between 2011 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of Portuguese speaking residents between 2011 and 2021 in Northern Beaches Council area were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+276 persons)
- Managers (+198 persons)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+155 persons)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+149 persons)
