Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 85 years or more in City of Port Phillip in 2021 compared to IMAP area shows that there was a similar proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 50.7% of people aged 85 years or more spoke English only, and 35.1% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 51.1% and 38.2% respectively for IMAP area.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 85 years or more in City of Port Phillip was Greek, with 12.5% of the population, or 184 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for people aged 85 years or more of the City of Port Phillip and IMAP area in 2021 were:
