Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of St Kilda in 2021 compared to the City of Port Phillip shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 7.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 10.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 11.0% and 13.8% respectively for the City of Port Phillip.
The major differences between the female age structure of St Kilda and the City of Port Phillip were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 25 to 29 (15.1% compared to 11.5%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 30 to 34 (14.5% compared to 11.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 5 to 9 (2.3% compared to 3.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 10 to 14 (2.2% compared to 3.4%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, St Kilda's female population decreased by 351 people (3.2%). This represents an average annual population change of -0.64% per year over the period.
The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 20 to 24 (-330 females)
- 25 to 29 (-245 females)
- 30 to 34 (-204 females)
- 60 to 64 (+151 females)
