Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the City of Port Phillip in 2021 compared to St Kilda West shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 14.8% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 5.8% were one-parent families, compared with 16.3% and 4.5% respectively for St Kilda West.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 41.0% compared to 45.3% in St Kilda West while the proportion of couples without children was 24.7% compared to 22.2% in St Kilda West.
