Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Balaclava in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (264 males or 16.1%)
  • Construction (162 males or 9.9%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (160 males or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 586 males in total or 35.8% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 17.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 10.8% in Construction; and 6.9% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Balaclava and the City of Port Phillip were:
