Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in St Kilda in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (975 males or 15.6%)
  • Construction (711 males or 11.3%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (520 males or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,206 males in total or 35.2% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 17.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 10.8% in Construction; and 6.9% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of St Kilda and the City of Port Phillip were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (8.3% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (15.6% compared to 17.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (5.7% compared to 7.2%)
