Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Balaclava in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (301 females or 17.8%)
  • Education and Training (233 females or 13.8%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (230 females or 13.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 764 females in total or 45.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 16.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.3% in Education and Training; and 15.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Balaclava and the City of Port Phillip were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (13.8% compared to 11.3%)
