Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Port Melbourne in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (660 females or 14.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (653 females or 14.7%)
  • Education and Training (445 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,758 females in total or 39.6% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 16.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 15.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 11.3% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Port Melbourne and the City of Port Phillip were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (8.7% compared to 6.3%)
