Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Port Melbourne in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,551 people or 15.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (961 people or 9.8%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (816 people or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,328 people in total or 34.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 16.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 11.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 6.8% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Port Melbourne and the City of Port Phillip were:
