Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in St Kilda in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,081 females or 17.3%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (883 females or 14.1%)
  • Education and Training (676 females or 10.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,640 females in total or 42.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Port Phillip employed 16.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 15.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 11.3% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of St Kilda and the City of Port Phillip were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (8.3% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (5.1% compared to 6.3%)
