Dominant groups
The size of City of Port Phillip's Chinese languages speaking labour force in 2021 was 1,802 persons, of which 486 were employed part-time and 1,084 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) of Chinese languages speakers in City of Port Phillip in 2021 compared to IMAP area shows that there was a higher proportion in employment, and a lower proportion unemployed. Overall, 92.2% of the Chinese languages speaking labour force was employed, and 4.2% unemployed, compared with 89.1% and 4.8% respectively for IMAP area.
Analysis of the Chinese languages speaking labour force participation rate of the population in City of Port Phillip in 2021 shows that there was a higher proportion in the labour force (67.1%) compared with IMAP area (62.6%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of Chinese languages speaking population employed in City of Port Phillip showed an increase of 67 people and the number unemployed showed a decrease of 12 people. In the same period, the number of people in the labour force showed an increase of 25 people, or 1.4%.
