Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Port Phillip in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (10,847 males or 35.9%)
  • Managers (6,720 males or 22.3%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (3,509 males or 11.6%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 21,076 males in total or 69.8% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Port Melbourne employed 33.8% in Professionals; 27.5% in Managers; and 10.1% in Technicians and Trades Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Port Phillip and Port Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Professionals (35.9% compared to 33.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (11.6% compared to 10.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (22.3% compared to 27.5%)
