Analysis of the car ownership in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households in the City of Ryde in 2021 compared to Willoughby City households shows that 87.3% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households owned at least one car and 9.7% did not, compared with 83.2% and 13.7% respectively for Willoughby City households .
Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a similar proportion who owned just one car, a similar proportion who owned two cars, and a larger proportion who owned three cars or more.
Overall, 38.6% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households owned one car, 32.2% owned two cars, and 16.5% owned three cars or more, compared with 38.9%, 32.1% and 12.2% respectively for Willoughby City households.
