In 2021, the largest age group in NSROC Region was 35 to 39 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 2,631 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of NSROC Region in 2021 compared to the City of Ryde shows that there was a higher proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.8% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 16.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.2% and 13.8% respectively for the City of Ryde.

The major differences between the male age structure of NSROC Region and the City of Ryde were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (6.7% compared to 5.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (6.9% compared to 9.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (6.0% compared to 8.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (7.7% compared to 9.4%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, NSROC Region's male population increased by 16,735 people (5.8%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.13% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 70 to 74 (+2,631 males)
  • 10 to 14 (+2,269 males)
  • 35 to 39 (+2,185 males)
  • 75 to 79 (+2,017 males)
