Dominant groups

Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Greek speaking population of the City of Ryde in 2021 compared to Lane Cove Council area shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a larger proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).

Overall, 86.0% of the overseas born Greek speaking population arrived before 2010, and 6.0% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 88.2% and 3.9% respectively for Lane Cove Council area.

The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Greek speaking population of the City of Ryde and Lane Cove Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of arrivals between 1961 to 1970 (41.2% compared to 31.6%)
  • A larger percentage of arrivals between 1971 to 1980 (14.4% compared to 7.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2001 to 2010 (1.6% compared to 11.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of arrivals between 1981 to 1990 (4.7% compared to 9.2%)
