City of Ryde

Year of arrivals

In 2021, 1,093 Spanish speakers living in the City of Ryde were born overseas, and 30.4% arrived in Australia within 5 years prior to 2021.

The Year of Arrival data records when the overseas born population arrived in Australia. The data shows the degree to which areas are 'ports' for new overseas arrivals and reveals the role of the City of Ryde in housing newer or older migrant groups. When looking at those speaking a language other than English this will tend to exclude those from English speaking countries, and may indicate whether the languages are used by recent migrants, older migrants, or 2nd or 3rd generation Australians.
