Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Rural South West and KNP in 2021 compared to Rural East shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 15.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 3.6% were one-parent families, compared with 22.0% and 6.4% respectively for Rural East.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 15.0% compared to 28.0% in Rural East while the proportion of couples without children was 17.9% compared to 31.7% in Rural East.

Emerging groups

The number of households in Rural South West and KNP decreased by 274 between 2016 and 2021.
