Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Cooma Urban Area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (299 females or 21.8%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (274 females or 20.0%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (271 females or 19.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 844 females in total or 61.6% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Rural East employed 19.3% in Professionals; 15.5% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 12.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Cooma Urban Area and Rural East were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (19.8% compared to 12.9%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (20.0% compared to 15.5%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Managers (10.3% compared to 23.0%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (6.9% compared to 10.7%)

The number of employed females in Cooma Urban Area increased by 77 between 2016 and 2021.
